Promotional for installation-

download

This is the promotional piece that my group and i created to advertise our installation and animation, this piece will be placed on the classes Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.

The reason we decided to create this piece was due to the theme in which we based our animation upon, this theme was depression and LGBT+, this issue is not talked about so the advertisement will be used as exposure on the issue.

We also created another poster which is another idea in which we are contemplating on using, below is the option:

Untitled_Artwork

This poster features the dark theme in which we are targeting and also includes many different words that are frequently said and used towards the issue of mental health, this can be incredibly damaging for the person suffering with this illness.

Graphic design elements in regards to composition-

Definition of Balance, emphasis, rhythm, scale.

Rhythm- the rhythm is when something is repeated. This can be used to create a flow through the  image.

This image uses rhythm which makes a repetition, in this image it is used for advertisement.

Balance- when something is balanced equally throughout the image. This could be used to show good vs evil and light and dark.

This shows balance through the colours and creates a calm image.

Scale- the different sizes of characters to show power or key parts of the story. This is used to show what the goal of the story is and also the main subject of the story.

In this image it is used to create a setting shot of the target of the movie and the end goal.

Emphasis- this is when there is a focus point to create emphasis on the object. This could be used to show main characters or object in a story which are vital, an example of this is the infinity gauntlet in Avengers.

This image emphasis is used to show the audience who (what we can assume) is the main character.

Props for installation-

For this installation we needed to make some props. Our initial idea for some of the props was to paint a black piece of card and then add red paint but we would dot his by using a splatter technique so it looked messy, this would of been used to add the effect of craziness that some of the people suffering with depression and suicidal thoughts may feel. As we begun to paint this i accidentally write a ‘p’, this lead me to think of the idea of writing help all over the board with question marks in between.

As out theme is suicide we are planning to have a rope with a chair underneath to signify the temptation that people have, we will have a rope around this so that nobody gets injured or hurt

Risk Assessment for installation-

risk assessment for animation

This risk assessment will be followed throughout the process of installing the installation, this will be followed to ensure the safety of everyone involved.

As the process of the installation is risky we will need to begin hanging things from the ceiling as well as using electrical items, we need to follow the safety rules and know what could possibly go wrong with the installation so we are able to act upon them if things go wrong.

installation planning- animation-

To plan the instillation and to figure out where the props go, we had to take photos of the room we are going to use and then draw it out so we could plan what we had to move and where the props could go.

These two images show the front wall and the back wall of the photography room. The front wall has the entrance to the dark room as well as a desk and whiteboard.

The back wall has a whiteboard and clipboards to showcase students work. There is also a table in the middle of the room.

As you enter the dark room, the first thing you see is a door which leads to a cupboard. Then the second image is what is round the corner which leads to the main room of the dark room where you will find all of the solutions and work spaces.

Planning for installation-

Our initial idea for our instillation was to have a room in which we set up two sides one being a dark side and a light side.

On the dark side we will have set up a black board with splattered red paint, the red paint signifies death, pain, hurt and anger. We will also have a chair with a hanging noose this will signify suicide and what could be if you are lead down the dark road, the noose also signifies the pain and horror that these young teens are feeling everyday and also the darkness that they experience which leads them to commit suicide.

Where as on the light side we will have a bright light shining through a LGBT+ pride flag this will allow us to signify the light in which you can have if you don’t choose to end it, all the darkness in which you are feeling is temporary but the pain that the ones you love feel will last forever.

This installation will be made to showcase the different sides of depression and the different roads that people go down, I feel as though this subject has not been portrayed in this way before and in this form of media. My group and I believe this is the best way to show this issue and also educate people who may have never heard or listened to these types of issues.

The audience in which we are targeting is both the older and younger audience, we are targeting the older generation as we are trying to educate them on this issue that may be affecting their family and even their kids.

The reason in which we decided to target the younger audience is because depression/suicide is most common in their age range and they need to know where to go if they ever get to the point where they are thinking about suicide.

Time Table For Week Commencing 25th

This time table shows us the activities and tasks that we need to complete based upon what stage we are at on our project. As me, Izzy and Libby have completed our animation, we have been set the task to complete and instal a installation that matches the theme of our animation and showcase it to a live audience.

This installation will have props and a mood to represent what our animation is about.
